PSC Members Hit the ‘Lottery’ Again; Cabinet Approves Central DA Hike Ignoring Finance Department’s objection.

While lakhs of hopeful job seekers in the state continue to wait in tears for employment, the Public Service Commission (PSC) Chairman and Members have once again hit a jackpot, metaphorically—a ‘lottery’. Despite objections from the Finance Department, the State Cabinet has decided to implement the 2% Dearness Allowance (DA) hike announced by the Central Government in February for PSC members as well.

With this, the Chairman’s new monthly salary will be ₹3,47,155 and each member will draw ₹3,39,500. When combined with allowances and other benefits, the Chairman will receive an additional ₹1,23,255, and each member will get ₹1,20,500 extra. They are also entitled to unlimited perks including House Rent Allowance, Travel Allowance, drivers, official cars, villas, and medical treatment.

This move increases the financial liability on an already economically strained government facing severe fiscal challenges, adding to the tax burden. Skipping over established salary revision discussions and financial controls, this decision has drawn criticism as a slap in the face of job seekers.

On one side are lakhs of candidates in prolonged anticipation; on the other, a flourishing PSC enjoying ever-increasing benefits — is this justice?
