Alappuzha: CPI General Secretary D. Raja on Friday said the Left Democratic Front (LDF) is certain to retain power in Kerala and will also secure major gains in the upcoming local body polls.
He was inaugurating the public meeting marking the conclusion of the CPI state conference. Beginning his address in Malayalam, Raja was greeted with loud applause from party workers.
The CPI leader lauded Kerala’s development achievements and asserted that no one had the right to question the patriotism of communists. Attacking the RSS, he said the organisation that remained absent during the freedom struggle is now lecturing on nationalism and acting as the voice of fascism.
He further alleged that the Modi government was protecting the interests of corporate giants like Adani and Ambani. Quoting poet Vayalar Ramavarma, Raja concluded his speech with the line, “We do not wish to die.”
CPI State Secretary Binoy Viswam presided over the function. Ministers P. Prasad, K. Rajan, G.R. Anil, Chinchu Rani, and senior CPI leaders were among those present.
